Conservation Halton Halton Hikes introduces residents and visitors to some of the best trails and outdoor adventure sites in Ontario.  The guidebook’s unique Footsteps for Trees walking campaign will prompt the planting of thousands of new trees throughout Halton.  All proceeds from book sales support Conservation Halton’s tree planting efforts.  Conservation Halton gratefully acknowledges the sponsors who supported the guidebook and Footsteps for Trees project. Ontario Ministry of Health Promotion
The Ministry of Health Promotion is pleased to partner with Conservation Halton for the Halton Hikes guidebook, an important initiative that supports the government’s commitment to promoting active, healthy living among Ontarians.

The Ministry of Health Promotion was created to help Ontarians lead healthier lives by delivering programs that contribute to healthy living and wellness. Key priority areas include Ontario’s smoke-free strategy, healthy eating, active living, sport and recreation, injury prevention and mental health promotion.

ACTIVE 2010, Ontario’s Sport and Physical Activity Strategy, is an exciting and ambitious action plan to significantly improve the province’s sport and physical activity system. Through promotional and education initiatives and by enhancing local community opportunities to be active, the province aims to achieve one of the ACTIVE 2010 goals: have 55 per cent of adults physically active enough to benefit their health by the end of the decade. The strategy also has a component that strengthens the development of amateur sport and ensures that all Ontario athletes have opportunities to compete at the highest levels possible.
